Nema Koohmaraie
Head Coach 14s Wildcat

Coach Nema is entering his second year with Moxie. Volleyball has been a way of life for him for the past 24 years. Nema will be the head coach for the 14s Wildcat team this season. His love for volleyball first started when his family started traveling for his older sister’s USAV club tournaments (he was 7 at the time) and only grew once he started playing club volleyball at age 9. Ever since stepping foot on the court, Nema fell in love with volleyball and has been playing at various levels for 22 years, whether it was organized club volleyball to playing by himself against the house, to cheering on his high school program and beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers to intramurals during his undergraduate years. These days, he plays in many adult leagues (indoor, grass, & beach!) and tournaments in the Puget Sound area as well as weekend tournaments along the West Coast. Nema is also in his third year as a high school volleyball referee for the Greater Seattle Volleyball Officials (GSVO) organization for Seattle area high schools and in his second year line judging for collegiate matches as part of the Western Washington Collegiate Volleyball Officials (WWCVO) board.

Nema is excited to be coaching at Moxie, especially with good friend and assistant coach Nate. Most importantly, he is incredibly excited to share his love, passion, and knowledge of his favorite sport (volleyball!) with the next generation of volleyball players in the Puget Sound Region, his new “home away from home”. Nema also plays competitive men’s slow pitch softball and tries to hike as often as possible.

“It’s not the will to win that matters – everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.” – Paul “Bear” Bryant/Bobby Knight

“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” – Babe Ruth
