Hi. My name is Billie Hwang and this is my first year coaching club
volleyball. I've played for various clubs around the Northwest, including Club Vertical and Rain City. At Bothell High School, I was a 3 year
Varsity setter with many accolades including All KingCo Honorable Mention
as a sophomore, First Team All KingCo as a junior and senior as well
as Seattle Times Prep Athelete of the Week. I've played 2 years for the University of Washington Men's Club volleyball team.
Since then I have played competitively on various women's teams. My
team attended Nationals in 2007 and finished 13th. We hope to return
this year to win it all! This February, I had the opportunity to tryout for the USA National Team in Colorado Springs.
After taking a short
sabbatical from academics, I graduated from Seattle University with a BS in Biology, pre-medicine emphasis.
I am employed at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where I
work on numerous pre-clinical studies, in particular investigating GvHD that develops after transplantation. My main focus involves mechanistic studies that pertain to a small subset of T cells called Regulatory T cells. My future plans include continuing research and medical school.
